Northern Line Extension threat to green
Community action saves the green…hopefully
At the time of writing, the government has given the go ahead to the Northern line Extension (NLE). It looks almost certain that the NLE will pass under the green but, thanks to local community action, it looks certain that the proposed vent/access shaft will not be on the green. Instead, it will be sited in nearby garages. However, Claylands Green and the nearby verge in Trigon Road will almost certainly be damaged during the construction process and there will be a long term adverse affect on the local environment.
